All That Jazz

Created by Draconum Studio

The 1920s occult romantasy-mystery LitRPG novel you’ve been waiting to read, and the TTRPG (table-top role-playing game) rules & system written for it, to let you play along! Weaver's Vintage is the novel, about two women caught up in a mystery, trying to solve - or resolve - a curse before it catches them up in its coils of dark magic and not-so-happily-ever-after. Jazz is a narrative-driven TTRPG (tabletop roleplaying game) system, designed and written to run the story of Weaver's Vintage - and any number of other stories, too. Both Weaver's Vintage, and the Jazz rulebook are available as physical (softcover) or digital (EPUB or PDF) versions; the Jazz Incident Book (adventures and scenarios) is available as a digital (PDF). Please note that we cannot ship physical pledges to Cambodia, India, Iraq, Israel, Kiribati, The Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (aka North Korea), Lebanon, or the Russian Federation; orders for physical items from those countries will receive a POD (Print-On-Demand) code to redeem through DriveThruRPG instead.

Latest Updates from Our Project:

Every banquet ends: All That Jazz post-campaign round-up
6 days ago – Thu, Oct 01, 2026 at 08:45:10 PM

And that's a wrap. Curtains called, the lights are dimmed, last drinks have been drunk. Thank you all for backing us and coming along on the journeyw ith us for this project.

What to expect next? As per the last update, we'll be sending you updates every month or so to keep you up to date with how we're doing.

Weaver's Vintage is currently written up to chapter 2 (chapter 3 is in progress), and outlined in detail up to chapter 7; we have a broad-brush outline of the whole thing down as well, so we know where our plot is going. We will continue releasing draft chapters to backers as we get them finished and edited. Our current outline has a total of 15 chapters, and we should be able to keep up with 2 chapters a month going forward, so... we're hoping to have the full final draft ready to go into it's editing phase in May 2027. That will give us 4 months to get the final edits done, order proofs, and get the printing started in time to begin shipping novels out in October next year. Hopefully, if all goes well.

The Jazz rulebook is about 50% written right now, and will be finished over the next few months as we integrate the feedback from the playtest sessions (continuing through October). We are aiming to have that ready for layout by the end of December, and ready for a final edit by Feb 2027 - again, if all goes well.

Shipping will be charged when we're ready to start sending things out, so don't expect that until probably September 2027. We're aiming to charge shipping as close as possible to the actual shipping dates so that we don't get caught by changes to shipping rules & rates.

October is super busy, so we probably won't have 2 draft chapters for you this month - expect to see a draft of chapter 3 towards the end of Oct though, for backers only.

So long, and thanks for all the fish <3

Counting down to the finish line...
7 days ago – Wed, Sep 30, 2026 at 09:01:47 PM

The final straight is here; curtains have been called, the lights are dimmed, and the bar has called last round before closing - these are the last few hours for All That Jazz, and if you haven't yet backed us (or any of our Printopia 2026 friends that you've had your eye on) this is your very last opportunity.

To those who have already backed us, thank you! We love you, and we are so excited to get the novel and the game to you so you can read and/or play them.

If any of you will be at PAX AU (Oct 9-11), please come and say hi at the tabletop area! Danielle will be there, running Jazz, as part of the ARC At The Table tabletop area, in the Magpie Room.

There will also be some playtest sessions running online in the new year, so if anyone wants to put their hands up to help playtest, DM us or leave a comment.

We will see you on the other side! Expect to hear from us about once a month going forward, to keep you in the loop on how the practical writing-printing-posting of your rewards is going. We will have a pre-order store open for post-campaign pledges, so please do carry on telling everyone how awesome and fun our project is, even though Printopia 2026 is officially over (or will be in a matter of hours).

For more moment to moment updates, and updates on Draconum's other projects and publications, you can also join our (recently created, still shiny, new, and a little empty) discord.

Wish us luck!

The shark with pearly teeth
9 days ago – Tue, Sep 29, 2026 at 07:26:38 AM

Printopia 2026 is almost over - and it feels like it only just began! It's a short campaign, true: just 3 weeks, and our finish line is days away, snapping its teeth at us.

(Leave a comment to cheer us on like your favourite race-horse! We promise, our type of fantasy race-horse gets treats and a warm stable after every race, is treated like a pampered princess, and genuinely enjoys running, so you can cheer us on without a shred of guilt.)

And like those fantasy race horses, we thrive on sugar cubes and apples - no, wait. Love! We thrive on love! In the form of recommendations, specifically. If you know anyone who you think might enjoy reading Weaver's Vintage, or playing Jazz, please point them in our direction! You (and they) have 2 days left!

Meanwhile, we will continue to write, plan, playtest, and come up with more exciting and somewhat ridiculous scenarios to put into the novel and/or into the Incident Book for you to play through yourselves.

Champing at the bit and ready to cross the finish line,

Weaver's Vintage, Chapter 2!
11 days ago – Sat, Sep 26, 2026 at 09:42:20 PM

Exciting news for our backers - we have a working draft of Chapter 2 of Weaver's Vintage! Check out the 'backers only' section below to read it. (If you haven't backed yet, now is your moment!)

Do note that this is not the final version. Once the entire novel is done, we will be putting it through a full edit-and-polish process, to make sure it's the very best version of itself that it can possibly be. That said, we have put this chapter through its paces a few times already, so we think it's close to final.

(Image notwithstanding, Chapter 2 does not include Jekyll the ghoul-horse. Rest assured, however, Jekyll will be introduced in all his adorable, carnivorous glory in Chapter 4, with further cameos in later chapters! He's friendly, though; no farriers have been harmed in the making of this novel, and Ed the equerry wears armour when dealing with him.)

With less than a week to go, we are heading into the whippy tail of this campaign and holding on for the ride. We are also prepping for PAX AU (Oct 9-11 in Melbourne - come say hi in the Magpie Room and play a game of Jazz with Danielle!) and for our second LitRPG writing workshop.

If you can make it to Midland Old Courthouse on Oct 17th, come along! The workshop is free to attend, thanks to the City of Swan Libraries, and it should be a blast! We're going to show people how to use oracle cards and oracle tables (two very different things) in their writing - even non-LitRPG writing - and some different way to incorporate the all-powerful System in a LitRPG.

If you're following along but haven't backed yet, you have just under a week to do it! We will continue to release draft scenes and chapters (and possibly working notes and brainstorming maps, etc.) after the end of the campaign, to backers only.

Enjoy the weekend, and happy reading!

Beat those end of the month blues!
15 days ago – Tue, Sep 22, 2026 at 11:57:43 PM

We broke triple digits! That may sounds like a small thing in a world where some crowdfunding campaigns make literal millions, but to us it's pretty exciting - the whole point of this is that we can do a proper print run, and making anything more than the goal we set for ourselves to do that is a win.

It's also both humbling and exciting to see so many of you looking forward to reading our work. <3

In other news, we have some more recommendations for your reading while you wait (patiently, we're sure) for chapter 2 of Weaver's Vintage - which will be released shortly, to backers only.

  • Cultivation System: Elder Edition, by beddedOtaku (unfinished, but ongoing) - this is a great comedy subversion of the usual Xianxia cultivation tropes, with a fairly relatable (not too dark & broody) protagonist who really just wants to survive and help people if he can.

  • The Hollow Mirror, by VictorConrad (unfinished, sadly not currently updating) - I love the ideas here, how the System is an inherent part of the mirror-world but doesn't intuitively make sense to the protagonist, and the ongoing mystery around the entire situation. Also, interacting with a somewhat hostile system through any and all reflective surfaces? That's gold.

  • The Magpie and The Archmage, by AmberAtlas (books 1 & 2 complete, book 3 ongoing) - a fun example of a monster evolution story, with a protagonist who is far too invested in collecting 'shinies', and a reasonably straight-forward system to help her get stronger and do just that.

  • The Last Lantern, by Ken The Last Lantern (unfinished, but ongoing) - I made stew because of this fic. No, really. I am that invested. Also, stew is tasty, and I had ingredients. Anyway! I love the System in this story coming in the form of the inn's ledger, and the protagonist being armed with a cast-iron pan. This is my type of adventuring.

Don't forget to check out our amazing cross-collaborator in the Sci-Fi genre banner, Dead God Rising! We're looking forward to reading the finished book, and you should be too. (We've started writing the special Backerkit exclusive Incident - which is an adventure short story scenario for the Jazz role-playing game - for backers who back both our projects, and it is going to be a banger!)

Last (but far from least, because setting it up was actually quite a bit of work), if you want mroe of our dulcet banter and irregular shower-thought updates, please come and join Draconum Studio's newly created Discord - there isn't much there yet (it's new) but we'd love to chat to you, and we will be posting there with all our achievments and updates.

Hope you're having an excellent week so far :)
